Letter I Books
From Milk to Ice Cream by Bridget Hens
From Milk to Ice Cream is a fun book that walks through the process of making milk into ice cream! Explaining both how the cream is made and how the sugar is harvested, From Milk to Ice Cream gives an in depth look at the creation of this special treat. The illustrations are cute and the text on each page is not too long. This book is better suited to preschoolers with a longer attention-span as it is explanatory rather than telling a story.
Should I Share My Ice Cream? by Mo Williams
The author of the famous, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! and many other Pigeon stories, Mo Williams has created another enjoyable story for kids. Gerald, the elephant, has to decide whether or not he will share his ice cream. With cute illustrations and shorter text, Should I Share My Ice Cream? is an excellent choice to incorporate the ice cream theme for kids with a shorter attention-span.
Little Kids First Big Book of Bugs by Catherine D. Hughes (Insects)
Although the title doesn’t begin with an I, National Geographic’s Little Kids First Big Book of Bugs is a great book to talk about insects with your preschooler. Filled with the beautiful, clear photos that National Geographic books are known for, Little Kids First Big Book of Bugs offers an up-close view of the world of bugs. The text is not too long and can be shortened by reading only some of the facts on each page. I love reading the Little Kids First Big Books series with my kids! We all learn something new about our wonderful world with each book we read!
Inside, Outside, Upside Down by Stan and Jan Berenstain
Brother finds himself going inside, outside, and upside down in this cute book! The illustrations will remind you of the classic Berenstain bears series, but the text is short and rhythmic. The story offers an opportunity to talk about directional orientation and what it means to be inside, outside, upside down and right-side up. Plus, Inside, Outside, Upside Down is just a silly and fun read!
Itsy Bitsy Spider by Page Publications
Perfect for early learners, the Itsy Bitsy Spider book can be read and sung together! You can even incorporate the classic hand motions while you read. This is a great one for younger preschoolers and those who do better with movement rather than sitting still while reading.
